Lou's Lagoon Devlog #3

🌟 New Devlog is out now! 🌟

Lous Lagoon Key Art 16x9 EN

Hey everyone!

Our latest Lou’s Lagoon devlog is here, and this time, we’re diving deep into how we create the islands you’ll explore in the game.

This devlog focuses on Brian, our art director and level designer, who has been shaping the world of Lou’s Lagoon from the very beginning. If you’re curious about how our archipelago is coming to life, you won’t want to miss this!

Here’s what we’re covering:

📝 Concepting the Islands

Before an island takes shape in 3D, it all starts with concept art. We’ll be sharing early designs of the islands you’ll see in the game, as well as some ideas that didn’t make the final cut—or might return in the future!

🩶⏹️ Greyboxing: The Foundation of Level Design ⏹️🩶

Islands aren’t just about looking good—they need to be fun to explore. The greyboxing phase ensures that each island has an interesting structure, is readable from a distance, and works well with our mechanics. We’ll show the evolution from raw geometry to fully realized environments.

🏝️ A Deep Dive into the Islands

Lou’s Lagoon features four major islands, each designed to be visually distinct and offer a unique gameplay experience. In this devlog, we take a closer look at:
Lou’s Island – Your cozy home base.

  • Tanglebloom – A jungle-filled mystery.
  • Gleam Reef – A glowing funky paradise.
  • Boulderia – A rocky landscape tied to an enormous crab-shaped surprise.

Oh, and one more thing… 🛩️

If you missed it, Lou’s Lagoon was featured in a recent Nintendo Direct showcase! That means we’re officially coming to Nintendo Switch alongside our Steam release! We’re beyond excited to bring the game to even more players, and we can’t wait for you all to explore the archipelago.

Check out the new devlog and let us know which island you’re most excited to visit! 🚀
